Turlock, California – The USL announced today that Academica SC will become the newest club to join the USL League 2.
The club has a rich history in Turlock, having been founded in 1972 by several members of the Portuguese Cultural Center and later developing several local amateur teams. These teams won several competitions in the 1980s, 90s and his 00s. They have extensive experience in the elite pre-pro space and are looking to continue their success in League 2.
“Academica SC will be a very exciting part of the upcoming League 2 season,” said Joel Nash, Vice President of USL Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “We are delighted to welcome Academica SC to the USL family. I’m looking forward to it, the club will become an integral part of the Turlock community and an example of what our club should be like.”
Academica SC will participate in League 2 and W League competitions from the 2023 season.
