I am thrilled with the opportunity the club has given me and can’t wait to hear the fans cheering on Saturday,” Rodriguez said. “I’m really looking forward to being a part of the team’s great energy. My goal is to have a good year with the team and achieve all the team’s ambitions this season.”
The 24-year-old spent the previous two seasons with fellow USL Championship club Phoenix Rising FC, scoring six goals and eight assists in 53 league competitions. Rodriguez is the leader of Phoenix’s forward movement, and in 2022 he will have 38 chances (third-most on the team), and in 2021 he will have 52 (fourth-most on the team). The midfielder’s breakout campaign from San Luis Potosi, Mexico took place in North Texas SC in 2019. He won both his MVP and Young Player of the Year awards for the USL League One in addition to winning the League One title. Battery head coach Ben Pillman likes Rodriguez’s influence on the team.
“Arturo is a very experienced midfielder and an attacking playmaker looking to set up his teammates,” Pillman said. “Not only does he have the energy to apply defensive pressure, but he also has the skill set to create chances in the final third and finish them off.”
