Milwaukee, Wisconsin – The USL announced today that Bayern United SC will become the latest club to join the USL League 2 and USL W League for the 2023 season.
“We are thrilled that the young players in our club and community have something to work on as they dream of being on the pitch and playing in the top pre-pro environment in the country,” said a Bayern executive. Director Steve Morris United SC said. “We aim to represent the club’s values and build an ambitious and competitive program from day one of the first season.”
The club’s mission is to develop intelligent players through a holistic coaching philosophy and curriculum. They want to maximize the tactical and technical potential of every player and teach players to be problem solvers in and out of the game.
“Bayern United has a long history in the men’s pre-pro space,” said Joel Nash, USL’s Vice President of Youth and Pre-Pro Properties. “This is a club that knows how to change lives, giving players a real chance to succeed. It’s something we can definitely match.”
Bayern United was founded in 1929 as Fusball Club Bayern. The club changed its name in 1956 after moving to new facilities at the Bavarian Football Club. It introduced the women’s Pathway program in 2011 and ten years later merged with nearby Inter North Shore FC to form Bayern United Football Club.
Notable alumni of the club include former US Men’s National Team head coach Bob Gunsler and former US Men’s National Team player Jimmy Banks.
