Lafayette, Colorado. – The USL announced today that Boulder County United will be the newest club to join the USL League 2.
“Participating in USL League 2 gives our club a unique football environment in our region and a way to develop the local football culture. We are very excited to be at the top of Players Pathway with a true senior avenue to pre-pro and collegiate football opportunities for our ambitious youth players.
The club’s USL mission is to provide destination football opportunities and source talent locally and from other parts of the world. Their goal is to create a path for those who are willing and able to reach their full potential and carve out a professional future.
“Boulder County is going to host really high-quality football,” said Joel Nash, USL Vice President of Youth and Pre-Pro Development. “They represent everything we want as we expand in League Two. I’m really looking forward to seeing what they can do in our league.”
Boulder County’s current iteration has been around since 2021, but has evolved since 2012 by integrating local clubs. That year, Boulder County Force and Boulder Athletic became FC Boulder. In 2018, Lafayette, Colorado-based Trevor Soccer Club joined FC Boulder. Finally, in 2021 FC Boulder merged with Boulder County SC to become Boulder County United, making him his one club in the county.
Boulder County United will participate in League Two and Academy competition from the 2023 season. They want to establish a complete pre-professional path for both male and female players in the future.
