Louisville, Kentucky. – Louisville City FC announced Tuesday that the club has signed Brian Ownby to a new deal ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season. Terms of the deal pending league and federation approval were not disclosed.
Ownby is set to enter his seventh season at Roux City after perhaps his best season at the club in 2020. The 32-year-old has four assists despite being restricted in the final stretch of the season. Scored a career-best 10 goals due to injury. USL As a substitute in his finals of his championship, Ownby scored Louisville’s only goal against San Antonio FC in his 78th-minute acrobatic flick.
The Speedsters also led LouCity by creating 46 chances in 31 appearances during the Eastern Conference title-winning season.
Ownby said, “I am thrilled to be back in Purple next year. Thanks to you, I was able to succeed, and I look forward to continuing to do so in 2023.
Oungby first signed with Roux City in 2017 when he won his first USL Championship title. The University of Virginia native has also played for his hometown of Richmond for his Kickers and major league football for his Houston for his Dynamo.
Ownby is the 17th returning Roux City player ever announced. LouCity head coach Danny Cruz and his staff continue to negotiate new contracts with other returning players, and updates will be provided in a timely manner.
