Another great month with great games and another great performance by the best team in the league. Teams of the Month for June are listed below and were determined using input from coaches, USL Sports and stats from players across the league.
There are two weeks of games left before the USL League 2 Playoffs!
GK | Ryan Trautman, Des Moines Menace
Trautmann did not concede a single goal in June. Yes, you are right. not one. Peoria City have gone scoreless only twice this season, and one of those was in a month when Trautmann was in his prime. His presence, reflexes, and one-on-one ability provided excellent security for an already strong Des Moines threat team. The Cardinal keeper left his mark on one of the league’s most historic teams.
D | Maxwell Miller, Asheville City SC
Miller’s value as a right-back or right wing-back for the Blues is immense. His defensive record as a team hasn’t been elite, but Miller’s pressure on opposing defenses on the right side of the pitch was integral to their 3-1-1 record in June. Building play from back to front is Asheville’s strength, and Miller is integral to that process.
D | Reid Sproat, Fort Wayne FC
Reed Sproat played 459 minutes in June. Fort Wayne have not conceded a goal in the last 459 minutes. While this doesn’t count for Team of the Month, it’s also worth noting that Fort Wayne played another game in early July and kept a clean sheet again. Their defensive stats are insane, and their anchor is Sprout.
D | Hugo Bacharach, Flint City Bucks
Bacharach is the Bucks’ cornerstone of the Bucks, and June was as productive a month for him as any other in a Bucks uniform. His sensational shooting in Week 7 earned him Goal of the Week honors as he continued to play at a standard level for the Bucks, giving Flint City a near-perfect finish to the season so far. .
D | Edoardo Calzola, Thunderbay Chill
Thunder Bay Chill had a busy schedule in June, and Calzola completed the mission. The left-back provided security both in the back and forward, helping Chill, who lead the Deep North, to three clean sheets and a month-long record of 7-1-0.
M | Aristode Banzuzi, South Carolina United FC
The Gardner-Webb midfielder had a great June as South Carolina United put both feet into the South Central title race. His control and ability to turn and carry the ball forward was crucial in the club’s 4-1-1 in June. He also added two goals against North Alabama SC and Tennessee SC as they tried to maintain their place in playoff contention.
M | Jorge Lopez, Ventura County Fusion
Logan Farrington may steal Fusion’s top headlines, but Lopez has been the driving force behind Fusion moving forward. Lopez was absent against Redlands FC earlier in the season, but played the full 90 minutes in the 3-1 come-from-behind win, with the Fusion completely dominating the game. With Lopez, midfield power is on a different level. The Fusion has yet to drop a point when he starts.
M | Mark Torrelas, Chicago City SC (captain)
The trails in June were nothing short of spectacular. A clearly perfect record for the only perfect team left in Ligue 2, Torrelas is the most consistent and dangerous attacker. The No. 10 doesn’t hesitate to float wide to connect plays, drive in the middle, pass, and use his best technical skills to fend off tacklers and create a numerical advantage. This Team of the Month captain’s armband rests comfortably on Chicago City SC’s starman as he continues the club’s quest for perfection.
Fu | Kyle Linares, FC Motown STA
Linares exploded in June, capping it off with a hat-trick against the second-placed Hudson Valley Hammers, who have conceded only 14 points all season, including three from Motown’s right wing. While Motown’s back line struggled to keep goals in check, Linares was very strong alongside Sam Thurber and was able to pull off a very impressive performance. Of particular note were the wins over Manhattan SC and the Hudson Valley Hammers, both of which Linares played. Score.
Fu | Stas Korzheniowski, Ballard FC
Korzeniowski has a knack for scoring goals, which is very evident when he’s not in the net. He scored in every match he played in June, but when he was out at the end of the month, Ballard FC went 1-1-1. He scored a whopping four goals against Lane United at Civic Park, and Bridges will need his scoring prowess to return to dominant form.
Fu | Bernardo dos Santos Monteiro, Charlotte Eagles
No player scored more consistently in June than Dos Santos Monteiro. He scored eight goals in seven games, and the Eagles hadn’t scored just one in any game over the past month. The left winger was in great shape, taking chances and creating some along the way. With a defense that has kept only two clean sheets this season, the Eagles need Dos Santos Monteiro to stay in form to challenge the Golden Boot for a coveted playoff spot. deaf.
