Buffalo, New York. – The USL announced today that FC Buffalo will become the newest club to join the USL League 2.
“We are thrilled to be joining USL League 2 as the next step in our 14-year journey as a club. “Everyone I meet at USL paddles the same way,” says FC Buffalo co-owner Nick Mendola. I am,” he said.
The club has a long history of success in the amateur and pre-pro ranks and wants to bring that experience to USL League 2. Its mission is to “serve Buffalo through football.”
“FC Buffalo has a long history of inspiring communities through football,” said Joel Nash, USL’s Vice President of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties. “I’m really excited to welcome this club to this league and I know how much effort everyone there is putting in to create opportunities for the players there.
FC Buffalo was founded in 2009 and hopes to fill the void in Buffalo’s elite pre-professional football. We have made connections with the world. They also have their mark across the USL landscape, with current Republic of Sacramento forward Russell Cicerone playing for the club in his 2014 season.
The club is currently designing a program to provide free advanced training to underserved athletes in the region.
