Tulsa, okra. – FC Tulsa announced Thursday that the club has signed defender Rashid Tetteh ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season. This transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Tete will join FC Tulsa after four seasons with USL Championship Western Conference club New Mexico United. The Ghanaian centre-back joined New Mexico in his first season in 2019 and quickly established himself as a defensive mainstay, finishing his third on the team with 2,570 minutes played and winning the club’s Rookie of the Year award. Tetes made 84 appearances for New Mexico in the regular season and championship playoffs, recording 6,516 minutes of action and recording 214 clears, 106 interceptions, and 394 recoveries. He has a career cumulative tackle success rate of 71.1% and a duel success rate of 60.9%.

Before starting his professional career in New Mexico, Tete attended High Point College and competed for the Panthers from 2015-2018. He earned Big South First Team All-Conference honors in 2018, Big South Co-Defensive Player of the Year and All-Big South First Team awards in 2017 and All-Big South 2016. During his time at High Point, Tetteh also played for the Carolina Dynamo in USL League 2, participating in two brief stints in 2016 and 2017 and joining the Des Moines Menaces in 2018.
