We’ve reached the business end of the World Cup group stages, with Groups A, B, C and D finished, and Groups E and F scattered on Thursday’s docket. So far France, Australia, Portugal, England, Senegal, USA, Netherlands, Argentina, Poland and Brazil have qualified for the Round of 16. Qatar also joined South Africa as the only World Cup hosts not to make it out of the group stage.
Looking at the tiebreaker, it’s a simple start where the team with the most points advances. If the two teams are tied, it will be the overall goal difference. If still unable to divide, the team that scores the next most goals becomes the advancing side. After that, if he ties, the rule reapplies to his 1-on-1 match only between the two teams. Therefore, the points total for these matches is followed by head-to-head goal difference and goals scored. If they make it to the end and cannot split, they are eventually sent to the fair play system.

The fair play system shows the team with the fewest penalties before the match. Therefore, a team scores 1 point for each yellow card, 3 points for each red card resulting from a second yellow card, 4 points for a straight red card, and 4 points for a yellow followed by a straight red card. counts as 5 points.

- England: group winner.

Group E
- Spain: Advance to the round of 16 by winning against Japan. If we beat Japan, we can win the group championship. Even if they lose to Japan and draw with Costa Rica and Germany, they can advance.
- Japan: Beat Spain to advance to the last 16. A draw with Spain and a draw with Costa Rica and Germany could also advance to the last 16. If we beat Spain, if we beat Germany, if we have a better goal difference than Costa Rica, we can win the group.
- Costa Rica: Can advance to a win against Germany and either Span/Japan lose or draw. It is possible to advance even if the Japanese side draws or loses. With 1 win and 1 loss and Spain with 1 loss, they closed the 6-point gap with Japan to top the group.
- Germany: Spain or Japan wins and advances to the last 16. It is possible to advance with a victory of 1 point difference or more and a draw with Japan.
Group F
- Croatia: If they win against Belgium, they advance to the round of 16. You can advance even if you draw with Belgium and lose to Canada in Morocco. Surpassed Morocco’s results and won the group.

- Brazil: Up to the round of 16, a win, loss or draw with Cameroon or a loss to Switzerland will win the group.
- Switzerland: A win or draw against Serbia advances to the round of 16. 1 win, 1 loss to Brazil, and 3 goal difference to win the group.
- Cameroon: A win against Brazil and a loss to Switzerland will advance to the round of 16. He beat Brazil by more than two points and could advance to the last 16 if Switzerland and Serbia draw.
- Serbia: A win over Switzerland and a loss to Cameroon will advance them to the round of 16.
Group H
- Portugal: Up to 16 best. You can win the group even if you win or draw with South Korea or lose to Ghana.
- Ghana: Whether they win or draw against Uruguay, they advance to the last 16. To beat Portugal in a draw, they have to have a higher goal difference than South Korea.
- Korea: A win against Portugal, a loss against Ghana, or a draw against Uruguay will advance to the round of 16.
- Uruguay: A win against Ghana, a loss to South Korea, or a draw to Portugal will advance to the round of 16. If South Korea wins alongside Uruguay, it will be a tiebreaker.
