Leesburg, Virginia – Loudoun United FC announced on Friday that the club has signed goalkeeper Hugo Fauroux ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season. This transaction is pending league and federation approval.
“We are delighted to welcome Hugo [Fauroux] To Loudoun United,” said Loudoun United FC head coach Ryan Martin. “He had a very good season in the USL Championship last season and is a great shot stopper. Perfect to join Loudon this season!”
The 26-year-old from Cannes, France spent the 2022 season at the Charleston Battery in the USL Championship. Fallou made 83 saves in 22 games against the Black and Yellows and recorded two shutouts.
Folow previously played in the Championship for Austin Bold FC, making five appearances for the club in the 2021 season. Prior to joining Austin, Folow made his professional debut for Norway’s Bardres FK in 2019, making eight appearances.
Fallou’s playing career began at youth level with his hometown club AS Cannes (U17) before moving to the academy of French giants AS Monaco (U19). The 6-foot-1 shoot-stopper moved to the Stateside to play for Lake Erie in 2015 and was named GLIAX Goalkeeper of the Year after a strong campaign in 2016. Fauroux then transferred to Florida International University in his 2017, earning his Conference USA All-Conference honors in his first season.
