Hartford, Connecticut – Hartford Athletic announced Saturday that the club has exercised its option to sign defender Robin Lapert. He will be back at the club for the 2023 USL Championship season pending league and federation approval.
“I really enjoyed playing for Hartford and I’m thrilled to be back for a second season,” Rappert said. I want to thank you, I will give my all for this club and I can’t wait to get back on the field soon in front of this incredible crowd.”
Lapert joined Hartford on 1 September 2022. The University of Connecticut product debuted for the club on September 17 in Las Vegas as a substitute for his Lights FC. He appeared in the final five games of the season three times, winning a total of 74 minutes, eight clears, five interceptions and eight duels.
Hartford head coach Tab Ramos said: “Robin only spent a few weeks with us in the fall, but he worked hard and left a good impression on our staff.” He came out on day one of training and fought right away, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what he’ll show us over the course of a full season.”
Lapert moved to UConn in 2018 after winning the Division II National Championship at the University of Charleston. The defenseman has had a strong career as a Husky under his current Hartford Athletic Technical Director, Ray Reed, and in 2018 and 2019 he earned AAC All his Conference Second his team honors.
