After being out for more than a month, Brett has scored and assisted on two occasions as a substitute. His finish against Loudun was something like Vintage when he slipped through the defense, received a pass from Enzo Martínez and scored into the left corner of the goal.
Regular play-off contenders Legion FC are able to assemble attacking talent, including up-and-coming player Nwegbo in his first year as a professional, and play that will take his players and team to a higher level. It will be a battle for time.
“It’s a lot of fun,” said Brett. “You have to be vigilant all the time. It’s hard because every game the coach changes three or four guys up front, but if you want to win a championship, you have a few players from the bench to help. It’s always a good thing because you have to come. It’s hard for everyone to push each other.I think if this chemistry gets right, it’s going to be dangerous.”
Wilkins, who knew a thing or two about scoring in his playing days, would probably have been impressed, but he might be the perfect incarnation of Legion FC’s direction. With the club continuing to grow on and off the field, it could be a magical season for the Magic City team.
“Seeing 18,000 out here, we knew our players had an advantage that only 18,000 could draw,” Thorn said. “It was a great feeling. Having Dominic on the team adds new excitement around the team and maybe the basketball players will come see us play because he’s there.”
“It just creates more opportunities for new fans and our players have to back that up with solid play. I think it’s really positive to have him around.”
