Indianapolis – The Indy-Eleven announced Thursday that the club has signed forward Roberto Molina and added young standout Grayson Elmquist to its roster as a USL Academy signing. Per club policy, details of the contract will not be made public.
Both Molina and Elmquist could make their club debuts this Saturday at home to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
Molina has spent the past two seasons with the same USL championship team, Las Vegas Lights FC. The 22-year-old made 44 appearances in the Championship regular season for Lights FC, scoring three goals and providing five assists in 3,036 minutes.
In addition, Molina made five appearances for El Salvador at senior national level, making his team debut on 5 December 2021 against Ecuador. Last year, Molina came on as a second-half substitute against La Selecta as the team won 1-1. At home in the Concaf Nations League in June, 1 draw with the United States.
Molina, a native of El Salvador, signed with Lights FC for the 2021 championship season after playing one season at the University of California, Irvine in 2019. Molina made 19 appearances, starting 17 of them, scoring three goals and providing three assists. Selected to the Big West All-Freshman Team. After the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Molina chose to turn professional the following spring.
Elmquist, a product of Indy Academy, joins the team after notable success in the USL Academy League over the past year. As part of his U19 USL Academy League squad this season, Elmquist earned Golden Boot and Golden Ball honors. He plans to join Eleven before reporting to Xavier College in the fall to begin his college career.
