Borussia Mönchengladbach’s breakthrough American star Joe Scully has attacked Greg Burhalter, lamenting his lack of playing time at the World Cup in Qatar.
Scully earned himself a place as a starter in the Bundesliga and headed into the tournament in excellent domestic form, but was unable to make the national team after being blown out of the tournament in the round of 16 by the Netherlands.
The 19-year-old right-back broke the silence and told the kicker:

Instead, Shaq Moore (right) was given two substitute appearances in the tournament in Qatar.
Greg Verhalter’s contract ended at midnight on December 31st, but it has not yet been revealed if he will remain as the team’s coach.
Shakel Moore was his backup and came off the bench against England and Iran. Some fans lamented Barhalter’s apparent bid to promote MLS stars over European talent.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: We tried to showcase MLS-based players instead of the best US players overall.
Skaley has been favored by Austrian Stephan Reiner at Mönchengladbach this season, with top commentator Derek Rea reporting that the club are considering selling Reiner.
