Birmingham, Alabama. – Birmingham Region FC announced Thursday that the club has re-signed former Major League Soccer standout and US Men’s National Team international Juan Agudero ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season . This transaction is pending league and federation approval.

The 30-year-old made an immediate impact after joining Legion FC for a few games in April of this year. In 28 appearances, he finished tied for second with 7 goals and 5 assists for the team’s fourth best.
Before moving to Birmingham, Agdello spent six seasons with the New England Revolution, playing under Heaps and current Legion FC head coach Tommy Thorne. He also earned his 28 caps in the United States and was part of the 2017 Gold his Cup-winning roster, and in national colors he scored 3 goals and 2 assists.
“I am very excited [to re-sign with Legion FC]’ said Agdero. “We are ready to build on what we were building last year. I felt like I left some unfinished business and a core group that could win a championship. That’s why I chose this comeback to win the trophy and get it.”
From 2010 to 2021, Agdero has scored 47 goals and 20 assists in more than 280 MLS appearances for the New York Red Bulls, Chivas USA, New England, Inter Miami CF and Minnesota United FC. In 2014, he signed for Stoke City in the English Premier League before being loaned to FC Utrecht in the Dutch Eredivisie, where he made 14 appearances and scored three goals.
