El Paso, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC announced Monday that the club has signed defender Jose Carrillo to further strengthen its defensive backline as Los Locos look to continue their stellar 2023 season. The deal is pending league and federation approval.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Jose to the Locomotive family,” said Brian Clahout, head coach and technical director of Locomotive FC. “Jose brings a wealth of experience from his home country of Spain, plus extensive experience playing in two of Europe’s top leagues. He fits our profile as a ball-playing defender with great character, but also fits well with our team and the urban culture here in El Paso.”
Carrillo played for Granada CF and RCD Mallorca in Spain before finally playing for Finn Harps FC in the Irish Premier Division. The 28-year-old made 23 appearances for Finn Harps and scored one goal.
Prior to joining Ireland, he spent four seasons in Slovakia’s top league with midfielder Semplin Michalovce and FK Seneca, making a total of 112 appearances.
“I’m thrilled to be here because of the team’s professionalism and high level of competitiveness,” said Carrillo. “The club, the coaching staff and the players have embraced me with open arms.
