Louisville City FC star Joshua Winder’s astronomical rise reached another milestone Wednesday when the 17-year-old center back was called up to the United States Men’s National Team for the first time in his career.
Winder was named to the team of choice by interim head coach Anthony Hudson to face Mexico in the Allstate Continental Classico on Wednesday, April 19 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. In December 2021, he joined former teammate and his LouCity standout Jonathan Gomez and former Orange his County SC defender Kobi Henry on the United States roster.
“I am honored to be called up to the senior national team,” Winder said. “This is another step towards my goal.
Winder is the youngest player to be selected to the team, less than a year after being first selected to the US Youth National Team. Winder was called up to the USA U-19 Men’s National Team’s camp on April 22, 2022. US Soccer Young Player of the Year for December.
