Leesburg, Virginia – Loudoun United FC announced Tuesday that the club has acquired defender Jake Morris on loan from Major League Soccer team Columbus Crew for the remainder of the 2023 USL Championship season. The deal is pending league and federation approval.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jake.” [Morris] To Loudon,” said Loudon head coach Ryan Martin. “He’s a very talented left-footer with great range and serve. Jake is a young player and his mentality will be a great addition to our team.”
Morris will join Kohaku after spending the opening of the 2023 season with the crew. The 24-year-old played 13 minutes in the club’s Open Cup match against Indy Eleven. Morris signed with Crewe on January 14, 2022 after being traded by Seattle Sounders FC.
Morris has scored seven goals and nine assists in 28 appearances for Campbell in 2020-21. Prior to joining the Camels, Morris played for Tyler Junior College, appearing in 45 games with 12 goals and eight assists.
Before college, Morris was with the Sounders Academy from 2016-2018. While in Seattle, the defender competed in the Tacoma Defiance, which was part of the USL Championship. Morris joined his brother Aidan Morris on the Columbus Crew roster, becoming the 19th pair of brothers to play together in the MLS.
