Manchester United Women have completed the signing of Canadian defender Jade Riviere.
athletic reported that a deal had been struck and the 21-year-old recently joined AFC Ann Arbor on a deal that runs until the end of the 2024-25 season.
“I am a huge Manchester United fan, so signing here is a dream come true,” said Riviere.
“I am really looking forward to growing and learning at this huge football club and I can’t wait to use all my playing attributes to achieve our joint goals on the pitch.”
United head coach Mark Skinner said:
A 2021 Olympic gold medalist with 36 caps in his home country, Riviere is a forward-thinking right-back and is considered a very promising talent.
She most recently played for AFC Ann Arbor in the semi-professional United Soccer League (USL), which she joined in April 2022.
Prior to that, he spent three years playing college football for the Michigan Wolverines from 2019-2022.
At the age of 16, Riviere made his debut for the Canadian national team in 2017 against the United States, who went through the youth ranks. In addition to her Olympic gold medal, she has won her two CONCACAF silver medals in Canada.
Manchester United are currently in second place in the Women’s Super League, three points behind leaders Chelsea, and have a game to play.
