“I’ve pretty much looked at the color gamut,” said Scott. “From wreck soccer, to local soccer leagues, to the whole country. Now. [my youngest daughter] I’m a freshman in college and have no children at home. So a few years ago [Lions co-founder] Thiago Pinto…he needed help with administration.”
Scott’s background, expertise and passion for grassroots football were a perfect fit for the Lions. Her goal now is to make her summer in South Bend a highly meaningful experience for players who play locally and those who come from afar.
“A lot of the time it’s just really luck how the players end up. I’m an advocate,” Scott said.
Joining the Lions extended Scott’s involvement in the sport and gave her another purpose to continue helping.
“Part of it has to do with giving players a chance who can’t afford to go to practice,” Scott said. “When we talked about developing an academy, I thought it would really be a game changer for some kids in this field. It may not benefit my kids, but for some kids I’m glad that I might be able to change something here.”
What started as a dream to support children by sharing their passion has turned into years of work to make Indiana football better. She has already seen some incredible heights as part of her Lions leadership at South Bend and has ready-made answers to her favorite experiences at South Bend so far.
