Monterey, California – The USL announced today that Monterey Bay FC 2 will be the newest club to join the USL League 2.
“It’s a great opportunity for the region to have a pre-pro team that will give the region a clearer path to the first team,” said Frank Yallop, Monterey Bay FC’s sporting director and head coach. The young player will be able to play in MBFC2 with an eye on the USL Championship side, marking the beginning of the club’s long-awaited ‘Road to Pro’ programme. ”
The club’s mission is to pave the way for players to reach the senior teams of the USL Championship and grow the sport of football for the Monterey Bay community.
Their football operations are led by Frank Yallop, who is also the head coach of the senior team.
“Having another USL Championship that shows our faith in USL League 2 is very exciting. Our League Two graduates make a difference in professional teams every season.”
Monterey Bay FC was founded in 2021 and has entered the USL Championship competition in 2022. The club plays on the campus of California State University Monterey Bay.
