Albuquerque, New Mexico – New Mexico United announced on Monday the acquisition of Colombian forward Isak Zuleta from Spain’s Getafe CF. The deal is pending league and federation approval.
The Los Angeles native has played for the La Liga club at both Under-19 and reserve levels, impressing with his scoring prowess during that period. The 19-year-old has scored a hat-trick in his first three games for Getafe’s U-19 side and scored 16 goals in his first 11 appearances for the club.
“Isaac is a talented and exciting young player with an incredibly high ceiling and a great work ethic,” United sporting director Itamar Kanan said. “Despite his young age, his international experience and experience at great clubs like Getafe have prepared him to achieve with Black & Yellow.”
Zuleta has made nine international appearances for Colombia at the U-20 level. He scored his first goal for the team against Ecuador last November, before making five appearances in the 2023 Conmebol U20 Championship in January, which qualified the country for the FIFA Men’s U20 World Cup. .
