irvine, california Orange County SC announced Tuesday that the club has acquired forward Kevin Lankford on loan from German side FC Victoria Köln for the remainder of the 2023 USL Championship season, with an option to buy in 2024. The deal is pending league and federation approval.
The 24-year-old from Heidenheim, Germany, has made more than 100 appearances in the second and third divisions of the Bundesliga. During that time he scored 16 goals and scored 21 assists in his professional career. He also made three appearances for the US Youth National Team at U-20 level and scored one goal in the 2016 COTIF tournament in Spain.
“I am really happy to finally be here in Orange County and play for a top club in the USL Championship,” said Lankford. “I can’t wait to play my first game and I hope I can make an impact on the team soon.”
The addition of Lankford further increases Mortens Men’s attacking versatility on the pitch. Lankford plays primarily on the right side as a forward, but has played in every position in the front three during his professional career.
