Pele has been admitted to a hospital in São Paulo as he continues to receive cancer treatment.
Kelly Nascimento, Pele’s daughter posted on Instagram Pele was hospitalized, but there are “no emergencies or dire predictions”.
Nascimento’s post comes after ESPN Brasil reported that medical staff were increasingly concerned about the football legend’s health.
she wrote:
“He’s adjusting his medication in the hospital. Some of my brothers are visiting Brazil. No emergencies or new dire predictions.
“I will be there for New Years and I promise to post some pics.
“Thank you very much for your care and love.”
Pele, 82, has been in the hospital regularly since having a tumor removed from his colon in September 2021.
The former Brazilian international is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time.
He helped Brazil win three World Cups in 1958, 1962 and 1970, and is Brazil’s all-time leading goalscorer with 77 goals in 92 games.
In 1999, he was named Player of the Century by the International Olympic Committee, and a year later he was named World Player of the Century by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics.
