Memphis, Tennessee. – Memphis 901 FC announced Friday that the club has signed midfielder Sebastian Velázquez to a multi-year deal ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season. The signature is pending league and federation approval.
The seasoned attacking midfielder brings MLS and USL championship experience to the 901 FC attack. During Velazquez’s career, he was a USL Championship regular in his season and played in his 101 appearances in the playoffs, scoring 27 goals and 18 assists. In 2017, he contributed to Real Monarchs SLC, where he achieved his best record of regular season regular season and was named to his team All League First in the Championship.
“We are proud to welcome Sebastian and his family to the Memphis 901 FC,” said Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell. “In Sebastian we bring a league veteran with game-changing abilities to Memphis. He adds another dimension to our roster and we are confident he will help us deliver results on the field this season. I have.”
Velasquez also began his professional career with Real Salt Lake after being selected in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, making 55 appearances in Major League Soccer in the regular season and playoffs. He has also competed in the top of his flight for New York City FC, and most recently Miami FC and El Paso he has been in the championship with Locomotive FC.
