oakland, california – Oakland Roots SC announced Monday that it has reached a loan deal with USL League 1 club forward Madison FC to send young forward Wolfgang Prentice to the Flamingos for the 2023 season.
Prentiss joined forward Maddison this week, and the Roots could always bring him back from loan.
Oakland Roots Technical Director Jordan Ferrell said: “We have been very pleased with Wolfgang’s development over the last year at this club and believe the forward’s situation in Madison is a perfect fit for the next phase of his development.”
Prentiss signed for Auckland last March and scored the club’s first two goals last Tuesday night in the club’s 3-1 victory over El Farorito FC in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. This is the 22-year-old’s second season on loan to his USL League One club, and Prentiss has played one season ahead of his time at Northern Colorado, where he has played 12 games at Hailstorm FC. Appeared and scored 1 goal and 2 assists.
“Wolfgang is a player with Championship and League One experience,” said Forward Madison Director of Soccer Operations and Development Keith Stiemeier. “He’s a tall left-sided player. He serves the ball, dribbles past defenders and, as evidenced by his two goals in his second round of the US Open, You can finish.”
