ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA – The Tampa Bay Rowdies announced on Saturday that they have acquired midfielder Lawrence Wyke from Major League Soccer’s Nashville SC on loan. Wyke will be selected for Saturday night’s Tampa Bay-Sacramento Republic FC game at Arlan Stadium. Terms of his loan deal were not disclosed.
Wyke is no stranger to the Rowdies, having spent the past two seasons in Tampa Bay. The versatile English midfielder originally joined Rowdies as a trylist during pre-season 2021, but was quickly signed by Rowdies head coach Neil Collins and staff after being impressed. During his two-year stint with Rowdies, Wyke made 66 appearances and scored four goals in all competitions.
“I’m very grateful to Nashville for offering Lawrence on loan,” Collins said. “It’s great to have a player on loan who has been an integral part of this club for the last two years and who really exemplifies our values on the field. I am happy to be here and I am very happy that he will be playing on Saturday.”
Wyke has appeared in three games for Nashville so far in 2023 and has started all three U.S. Open Cup games for the MLS side. The 26-year-old also played one game for Nashville’s MLS Next Pro team, Huntsville City.
“I’m looking forward to being here because I have a lot of good memories from the last two years,” Wyck said. “I want to give it my all, bring intensity to the game, support the team as much as possible and try to get three points every weekend. I am glad.”
