sarasota, florida – The name of Sarasota’s new USL League 2 football club is Sarasota Paradise.
The club, whose inaugural season begins in May, unveiled its name and crest on Wednesday.
The club’s crest depicts the natural beauty of the area, especially the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico for locals and beach lovers on Florida’s west coast. The sun shares space with iconic images of the city of Sarasota. This is the leaf of the sabal palmetto, a Florida state tree, found throughout the city. The leaves are arranged in the style of a laurel wreath, a symbol of great athleticism.
Sarasota Paradise Managing Partner Marcus Wolfridsson said: “Our new club will bring together all those who love the game, our city, our culture, our environment and our people. It reflects everything that makes it special. It underscores our never-ending commitment to defying expectations and striving towards the horizon.”
This image shows that Sarasota holds a unique place in Florida and in the world. Every aspect of the city has unique people and environments, defined by their own nature. Wetlands lie to the east and south, while beaches and seawater line the western boundary.
“From inland areas to historic downtown to seaside locks, Sarasota is growing in population and ambition, prominence and relevance,” said Wolfridson. It’s time to stand on.”
The club’s name is based on months of consultation with local leaders and club stakeholders, as well as gathering community suggestions. Ultimately, the club chose Sarasota Paradise because it conveys destinations, ideals and signs of what is to come.
For its colors, the club looked to Sarasota’s urban architecture and natural environment, especially bays at night, sunlit trees, and terracotta roofs.
The club will start playing in USL League 2 in 2023. USL League 2 is the largest pre-professional soccer league in North America, with over 100 of his clubs across the country. The season begins in May and ends in early August. For more information on USL League 2, follow the league on social media at: @USLLeagueTwo.
