Paxson Wecker had a goal and an assist as the Sherman Bearcats opened the soccer season with a 2-0 victory over The Colony at Sherman High School.
Garrett Wilkens gave the Bearcats the lead with his goal off an assist from Wecker in the 63rd minute and then just two minutes later Wecker scored on an assists by Kevin Sanchez.
Yasir Rodriguez made four saves and Drew Sandoval had three saves to combine on the shutout for Sherman, which competes in the Frisco Tournament starting on Thursday.
