Colorado Springs, Colorado. – Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC announced Friday that the club has signed goaltender Joe Zminski ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season. This transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Kuzminski joined the Switchbacks after previously competing for fellow USL championship club Charleston Battery, appearing in 102 games in the regular season and making the playoffs in two stints with the club. Kuzminski, a native of Denver, Colorado, had 287 saves and 29 shutouts in the league’s battery, giving him a 67% overall save percentage.
“I am very much looking forward to returning home and contributing to the success this team has achieved over the last few years,” said Kuzminski. I’m really looking forward to it.”
The 28-year-old joined the Battery in 2017 and made his debut the following season, making 24 appearances for a season best 12 shutouts and averaging 0.92 goals. After two seasons as a battery starter, Kuzminski moved to Israel in January 2020. He joined Premier League club Maccabi in Haifa on loan, before being cut short by the pandemic. I returned to the club midway through the season.
Kuzminski is said to be the second goalkeeper to score in a USL Championship game as he scored the equalizer in stoppage time against Loudon United FC who gave his team a 1-1 draw on 28 May. It has a notable track record.
