Syracuse, N.Y. — The No. 3 Syracuse men’s soccer team will play for an Atlantic Coast Conference championship this weekend after moving past Virginia in a dramatic penalty-kick shootout Wednesday night at the SU soccer stadium.

Colin Biros, a graduate student who transferred from Akron, sank the decisive penalty kick to secure the final margin and advance to Sunday’s championship match in Cary, North Carolina.
Syracuse will face Clemson, the defending national champion, at 12 p.m. Sunday. The game will air on ESPNU.
Head coach Ian McIntyre is amidst his best season leading the Orange since the team’s College Cup run in 2015. McIntyre was named the ACC’s coach of the year earlier this week.
Syracuse and Virginia were tied, 2-2, after regulation and two, 10-minute overtime periods.
A penalty kick by Jeorgio Kocevski in the 27th minute gave the Orange an early lead. Virginia answered in the 38th minute and took the lead in the 66th minute.
Syracuse knotted the score in the 84th minute when Nathan Opoku slid a pass to junior Lorenzo Boselli, who put his shot inside the left post to force overtime.
