edinburgh, texas – Rio Grande Valley FC announced Wednesday that the club has signed midfielder Taylor Davila ahead of the 2023 USL Championship season. The signature is pending league and federation approval.
Davila joined the Toros from former USL Championship LA Galaxy II and made 61 overall appearances during Los Dos’ 2021-22 campaign. Last season, the 6.1-foot midfielder made 3 goals, 2 assists and 31 chances in his 32 appearances. On defense, he recorded his 23 interceptions and posted an 88.9% pass accuracy rate while averaging 66.1 passes per 90 minutes.
A native of Sherman Oaks, California, Davila stayed in her home state for her college career. He played for the University of California from 2018 to 2020, appearing in 36 games and scoring two goals. Prior to his arrival at Cal, Davila was a part of the LA Galaxy U-18 and U-19 Academy ranks from 2017 to 2018, during which he also competed in Galaxy II as a signing for the USL Academy. bottom.
Davila is a notable college standout and has earned numerous accolades, including being named to the 2019 United Soccer Coach’s All-Far West Region First Team. The 23-year-old was also voted to the 2019 All-Pac 12 First Team as he appeared in his 18 games with the Bears in Golden, the fourth most minutes played. As a freshman in 2018, Davila started all 18 games and tied for the team’s lead with three assists.
