Braintree High’s Ciara Horan has been voted the High School Girls Soccer Player of the Week.
The senior earned over 9,600 votes to earn the honor. Horan tallied the winning goal in a 2-1 win over Doherty in the preliminary round of the Division 1 state tournament.
And this week’s candidates are…
Shea Kelleher, Sr., Silver Lake: Kelleher scored both of the Lakers goals in a 2-0 win over Holliston in the Round of 16 and followed that up with a hat trick in a 3-1 win over Masconomet in the Elite Eight. Kelleher became the program’s all-time leading scorer with 90 points in the win over Masconomet.

Tess Barrett, Soph., Cohasset: Barrett has been red hot in the tournament. She’s scored 11 goals in three tournament wins (five against East Boston, four against Lunenburg, two against Blackstone Valley Tech) to help the Skippers reach the Div. 4 Final Four.
Sophie Reale, Sr., Hingham: Reale tallied 10 goals in Hingham’s first three tournament wins. She scored a goal in each half in a 3-2 win over Brookline, had four goals against Shrewsbury and Attleboro (plus two assists).

Ayla McDermod, Jr., Hanover: McDermod scored the lone goal in double overtime to send Hanover past North Reading in the Div. 3 Elite Elight.

Lindsay Wilson, Sr., Notre Dame Academy: Wilson tallied a second-half hat trick in a 4-0 win over Whitman-Hanson and also had a pair of goals in a 5-1 win over Medfield.
Laney Beahn, Jr., Blackstone Valley Tech: Beahn scored the lone goal for the ninth-seeded Beavers in a 4-1 loss to top-seeded host Cohasset in a Division 4 quarterfinal. Earlier in the week, Beahn had a hat trick as the visiting Beavers prevailed 4-3 in overtime over West Bridgewater in a second-round match.
Sadie Candela and Gabby Miranda, Srs., Algonquin: Miranda broke loose in the 75th minute, getting past two Framingham defenders before depositing a shot from 5 yards to lift the fourth-seeded Titans past No. 13 Framingham, 1-0, in a Division 1 second-round game in Northborough. Earlier in the week, Candela netted three goals and Miranda added one to help lift the to a 10-1 win over No. 36 Durfee.
Callie Cottone, Sr., Medway: After a scoreless regulation and overtime period, Cottone made three saves and scored the clinching goal in penalty kicks as No. 15 Medway earned a thrilling win at No. 2 Newburyport in a Division 3 Round of 16 game. The Mustangs fell in the state quarterfinals to Dedham on Sunday after another scoreless regulation and overtime period, 1-0 on penalty kicks.
Abby Cushing, Sr., Lincoln-Sudbury: The senior striker scored in the 62nd minute off a corner from sophomore Annie Rapisarda as the host No. 16 Warriors edged No. 32 Newton North (4-12-3) in a 1-0 decision in a Division 1 Round of 16 game. On Saturday, the Holy Cross-bound Cushing assisted on a goal in a 3-2 loss to Wellesley in a state quarterfinal.
Anya Zub, Jr., Franklin: The junior netted three goals as the host eighth-seeded Panthers blanked No. 25 Belmont in a Division 1 Round of 32 game, 4-0.
