statesboro, georgia – South Georgia Tormenta FC today announced the transfer of Australian defender Joshua Phelps to second-tier Australian Football League system side Melbourne Knights FC of National Premier League Victoria (NPL Victoria) for an undisclosed transfer fee Did.
First signed by USL League 2 side Tormenta FC 2 in 2017, Phelps was promoted to the first team and became the first player to reach 100 club appearances for South Georgia in all competitions. Phelps departs South Georgia ranked first in club appearances with 120 games played in all competitions. Notably, with his six appearances in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, Phelps has appeared in every match of the Tormenta FC Open Cup.
In the 2022 USL League 1 campaign, Phelps made 30 appearances, all of them as a starter. Phelps played over 2,600 minutes during the season, scoring one goal. Additionally, Phelps has captained the club on several occasions and is one of the few players in Tormenta FC history to wear the captain’s armband.
