“Thank you to Christian (Pulisic). We love him and we appreciate him. It feels great. He is huge. It’s important, he’s a key player and a leader.”
“No one believed America could play good football, so I always say to the world it’s us. So we’re here to show the world.”

McKennie: “Everyone ready to go all out”
“We wanted to control our destiny. We’re a really close group. We’re brothers. We love this kind of pressure and excitement. It has the swagger and style of The final was a heartbreaking moment, but we did it.
“Of course, I am very grateful that[Pulisic]threw the body there. It’s a shame he had to come out, but the fact that he’s throwing himself on the line shows just how close this team is.

Verhalter on Pulisic: “No updates on his status, but I’ve been saying all along that one of the best players is one of the hardest working. I can’t say enough positive things about Christian.”

Musa was huge
Yunus Musser’s performance on his 20th birthday epitomized the dynamism of Team USA. He’s been phenomenal and has been through this group phase all along. No wonder England lamented losing to him.

Holland next
Next up for Berhalter’s team is the Netherlands. I think this is a lot closer to his 50/50 contest than people might expect. Naturally, the Dutch would be the favorites, but Ecuador could bet on them a bit. I think USMNT can do it too. Thailand can win if they defend well, but America needs Sargent and Pulisic. Burhalter was unable to provide an update on Pulisic shortly after he left full-time.

US captain led the way
Tyler Adams was everywhere again. But this time, his diligence was fully met by Yunus Musser. The Valencia midfielder, who turns 20 today, must have made club coach Gennaro Gattuso proud of his cleverness to help the United States in an incredibly difficult game.

USMNT celebrates with fans
A lot of sympathy is going on, from US players to Iranians. But now the US are getting closer (albeit not much) to the fans behind the goals they were attacking in the second half. they love it!

USMNT Big Results
full-time! What a result for USMNT! Adams appears to be in tears. Everyone looks shattered. Iran’s body language is his body language for a team that knows they missed a big chance tonight. America deserved it from the beginning. No matter how difficult the second half was, they took the initiative and did it. Great performance in their group stage.

Iran had a deadly chance
Iran’s World Cup trip ends just feet away from the goal line with the ball wide open before the US clears. Absolutely brutal for Team Meri.

We had a few hands from Carter-Vickers, but not enough to justify the penalty. He’s depressed anyway, sure. he loses his footing.
