Winchester, Virginia – The USL announced today that Virginia Marauders FC will become the newest club to join the USL League 2 and USL W League.
Virginia Marauders FC Founder Ahmed Sheta said: “The goal is to give the community something to build on and give local talent a home where they can play football at a higher level without having to commute far.”
The club’s mission is to provide local college players with a path to future pros. Virginia Marauders FC wants to provide a platform for these players to showcase their skills and promote themselves to leagues around the world, including other his USL properties.
“Virginia has one of the most representative football communities in our league and we are excited to welcome a great new club to join us. I am doing it.”
This will be Virginia Marauders FC’s first season playing competitive football. The club will announce the players and staff for both teams from March.
The club says it will partner with local youth clubs and businesses to provide a better game day experience.
